Bodegas Piqueras, Castillo de Almansa, Reserva, 1996

CSPC 270363.

3.5 grapes

At under a $10.00 price point (in Alberta) I have always been doubly impressed. First by the quality of the fruit in this wine beginning with the 1990 vintage, and secondly by its price point that continues to please my pocket book.

It is ripe, rich and rustic without being heavy and clumsy. It has had some special handling as a Reserva with a couple of years of bottle aging to round out the delicious flavours.

It comes from the region of Spain called Almansa and is one of the premier wines from this region.

Ready to drink now, enjoy it with grilled steaks, lamb, and spicy pasta dishes.

The Purple Feet Rating System:

5 grapes = spectacular
4 grapes = delicious
3 grapes = yummy
2 grapes = okay
1 grape = awkward
