2000 Delicato Merlot

3.5 grapes

For more than 75 years, the Indelicato family has been crafting fine wines while assembling a portfolio of world class estate vineyards. Today, Delicato harvests more than 10,000 acres of vineyards across the top grapegrowing regions of California. These range from the coastal cool of the legendary San Bernabe Vineyard in Monterey, one of California's oldest grapegrowing regions, to the rolling foothills of Lodi.

This is a medium bodied, deep garnet wine with hints of violet. While it is blended with small amounts with other varietals this wine has a spicy, ripe cherry and rose petal aroma with notes of mocha coffee and smoky oak. This is a supple wine, endowed with flavours of black cherries, ripe plums, and currants. While quite drinkable now, this wine will continue to improve with age over the next 2 years. Try it with prime rib or steak, or perhaps with pasta in a rich, meaty tomato sauce.

The Purple Feet Rating System:

5 grapes = spectacular
4 grapes = delicious
3 grapes = yummy
2 grapes = okay
1 grape = awkward
