2001 Arabesque Syrah Rose - Famille Jeanjean - Vin de Pays D'Oc - France

3.5 grapes

A dry rose that will entice you from the very beginning. I always find it difficult not only to find a good dry rose but one with elegance and finesse. Well, this one tries and succeeds. Full of flavours of cranberries, strawberries and a refreshing, slightly tart finish. Great for sipping or with food like turkey and cranberry sauce, or baked ham with a not-too-sweet glaze. A great wine for the upcoming warm summer months.

Things to know:

One of the more successful players in the Pays D'Oc region (which covers over 736,000 acres (298,000 ha) in this 190 km strip that hovers along the Mediterranean coast and is the largest wine-producing region on earth and accounts for about one in three bottles of French wine) is Hugues &

Bernard Jeanjean. Founded in 1870, Jeanjean began as a family wine merchant business, located in the heart of the vineyards. Over five generations, the company has become one of the leading merchant-producers in the Languedoc Roussillon ~ the 8th largest in terms of volume in France.

The commitment to higher quality wines required a massive investment. There are a bewildering number of wines produced by this single company ~ more than a dozen individual groupings of labels. Perhaps best known is Arabesque, a Vins de Pays d'Oc that comes in a unique wavy undulating bottle.
