2001 Zinfandel - Delicato - California
(CSPC + 346908 retail $12.00)

4 grapes

Delicato is the fastest growing California wine brand in Canada. Voted "U.S wine Producer of the Year" two years in a row, Delicato, with its most identifiable blue label, now has 5 separate and distinct varietals. This week I decided to choose the newest one in Alberta - Zinfandel. Silver medal winner at the Selections Mondiales in Montreal, I sampled this vintage for the first time in Red Deer at one of my many public seminars. This vintage is wonderful, delicious and gratifying. While the 2000 was nice, there is so much more fruit in the 2001 that you won't be able to have just one glass.

Made from fruit sourced from special California vineyards, including Lodi Old Vine". Deep and powerful aromas of cassis, vanilla with a hint of tobacco and spice are incredibly balanced by blackberry, plum and toasty oak a supberb choice with lamb, veal or pasta in hearty sauces

The Purple Feet Rating System:

5 grapes = spectacular
4 grapes = delicious
3 grapes = yummy
2 grapes = okay
1 grape = awkward
