1998 Trius Red - Hilldebrand - VQA Niagra - Ontario

4 grapes

A truly deep luxurious red Trius, rivalled only by the 1991, I am told. The 63% cabernet sauvignon (the highest percentage ever in Trius) is splendidly balanced with 22% cabernet franc and 15% merlot. Bordeaux in style from beginning to end, starting with luscious blackberry fruit, cedar and bacon hints from French oak barrels; a rich yet smooth texture with soft tannins; finishing eloquently with wonderful richness and mouthfeel.

Truly enjoyable now, this wine can be enjoyed over the next 6 years.

The Purple Feet Rating System:

5 grapes = spectacular
4 grapes = delicious
3 grapes = yummy
2 grapes = okay
1 grape = awkward
